What Abby's been doing this summer.... SWIMMING!

In order to pass to level 3 Abby needs to float on her tummy and her back by herself for 10 seconds.  She can do on her tummy but is still working on floating on her back without someone holding on to her.  Dan got to be her teacher a few times.  One of Abby's other teachers is Stephanie who has a daughter Taylor who is one week younger than Abby.  I did parent-tot with Stephanie and Taylor when Abby was a baby.

Emma was great during the lessons as there was a lot to watch and look at!
Not sure why this is sideways. This is Abby with Taylor.
 This is Abby's friend Bella.

 Teacher Stephanie.

Abby usually goes with Dan to the pool at 9:45am and does the 10:00-11:00am lesson and then the 11:15am-12:15pm as well.  Emma and I usually come for the second lesson.  In between lessons and the last 5 minutes of each lesson is free time.  Abby gets to swim and play with Daddy during this free time.

Dan had finals for the summer swim team that he coaches.  They always have a coaches' swim and the kids get to sit on the side of the pool and cheer them on.  Dan's relay won and they also won the whole meet!  Yay Dan!

Abby and Emma love all the playmates they have at the meets.

Emma taking a nap in the backpack.  Usually I lay her down after she falls asleep but I didn't this time.
Abby is totally in to jumping in and so of course Emma has to do it too!  They are both fish right now!

Practicing her back float.

Swimming with her Daddy...

Sam swam on the West HS team but graduated this spring.  She teaches lessons to the older kids and Emma was helping her.  :)

This is Abby's friend Mackenzie who she plays with in the childcare when I do my step aerobics class at the gym (different than her other friend Mackenzie).
This is one of Abby's other teachers Bobby.

Camping at the Beach

We go camping once a summer for two nights at Beachside State Park near Newport, Oregon.  This is where I grew up camping.  Two nights is enough for us and this year it rained the second night so it was really enough!  We had a fabulous middle day on the beach so it was all worth it.
 Hanging out in our campsite.

We had a gorgeous day on the beach.  Almost no wind and warm enough for no coat and even short sleeves for a bit.

Emma absolutely loves the backpack!  She asks to go in it.  It is also nice because she will fall asleep in it when she is tired.  This is how I got her to nap while we were camping.

We upgraded to an 8 person tent this year and it was fabulous!  Dan and I have a queen air mattress and then one of the girls on each side of us.  This year there was plenty of room to also have our clothes in with us which was nice.
I painted Abby's toenails for the first time.  She was so excited.  She would gasp and I would say "What?!?"  and she would say "I forgot my toes were painted!!".  Such a funny girl!
My mom had her own campsite just a short walk from us.  It was fun to have her there and it was also nice to have her help!

 Emma exploring...

Abby had to go potty so I said well I guess it is time to go in the water!  We had to explain how you don't go potty in a swimming pool but the ocean and large lakes are okay.  :)

Emma is also loving being on my shoulders these days.
The girls went up and down, around and around, over and over again.

 Popcorn!!
Right behind Dan you can see the ocean.

Glow in the dark glasses from Grandma and a s'more for Abby!
