August Adventures

It got so hot a few days this August that we got the pool out at 7pm!
Emma started digging all the dirt and pine needles out of the driveway.  Then she didn't like it because she was dirty.  I had to take a quick picture though.  Sorry Emma Lou Lou!  She looks cold and it is dark but it was still almost 90 degrees outside.

Dan was gone for a swim meet in CA for almost a week.  Katie was home for a month or so from MA and she agreed to stay with us.  Thank you Katie!!  I hate staying home alone overnight when Dan is gone.  The girls loved having her here and one morning she brought over Ilhan, the little boy she has been nannying for in MA.  He and Emma are just a few months apart.  Abby kept calling him "King Kong" for some reason.  Crazy girl!

We got to meet up with Mackenzie and Brooklyn at the Riverfront splash pad.  It was a nice way to stay cool and Cheryl and I got to catch up.

Waiting for Daddy to get home from the swim meet in California...
 There's the car!
 Yay Daddy!!

 Our family is together again!!

We got to hang out with my friend Lisa and her 3 kids: Allie, Jack and Maddox.  She lives in Gresham but her parents live in West Salem so we played over there.
Emma and Maddox are a few months apart and Abby and Jack are a few months apart.
Yummy rice, chicken and corn on the cob!  Thank you for letting us share your dinner!!

Abby LOVES doing puzzles lately.  This one was a little tricky but she finished it.
She let Emma help her wreck it.
We enjoyed quite a few fruit smoothies this summer.  Very refreshing.
We miss you Disneyland!!  Hopefully we can come see you again soon!!

Dan had a swim meet in Bend that we got to go to for the weekend.  Abby didn't think it was quite as cool as we did that her name was on the pizza place sign.
I had to be creative with naptime.
We had a nice spot in the shade with our blankets and food.
The girls enjoyed running around.  A few people around me were a little worried that I let Emma go out so far but I said "she is like a boomerang, she always comes back!".  We were in a completely gated area and the pool was fenced too so there wasn't much that could harm her.
They enjoyed visiting this dog.  Again and again...

After the meet ended they opened up this swimming area.  It was very nice and felt so good as it was SOOOO hot.

Abby finally got up the nerve to try the slide right before we were going to leave.

Yay Abigail!!  Emma and I also ended up going down.
 Water painting...
I had this out to clean off the ceiling fans and when I walked by Abby's room I saw Emma at the top of it.  When I said wait let me grab my camera she started crying.  Silly baby!!  It is funny because we have a picture of Abby when she climbed the step stool.  At the time she wasn't even walking yet!
